Face of a Cherokee

Updated: Mar 13, 2019

The Cherokee story came to me initially in a dream. I am sure we all have dreams about running away from something. For me maybe it is the idea of persecution and no hiding place.

There is still so much persecution and also prejudice in the world. I am sure we all carry some. Perhaps it’s the animal instinct to dominate another group, tribe, race, religion, nation, where where one group presumes cultural superiority over another.

The Cherokee for me are just one example of the persecution of a strong culture with proud traditions and beliefs.

So I wrote this song with a potential audience of children in mind, as well as adults. Maybe if they sing this song in their communities, schools, the message will resonate through to the next generation and especially recognise how greed can cloud and distort our goals.
